Charity for Change receives $25,000 grant from Collier Community Foundation

Grant will allow Charity for Change’s program to meet new curriculum standards

Charity for Change received a $25,000 grant from the Collier Community Foundation to update its elementary school curriculum to meet new state educational standards.

Charity for Change serves at-risk pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students in Collier County through after-school, summer and in-school settings.

“We are grateful for the Collier Community Foundation’s support of Charity for Change, which promotes the education, health and emotional well-being of children in our community,” said Karen Conley, founder and CEO for Charity for Change. “Children who grow up in poverty are more at-risk to develop negative social behaviors, which lead to disengagement, underachievement, bullying, dropping out, and later violence and crime.”

Charity for Change teaches skills recognized by education experts: how to understand and manage emotions; set and achieve positive goals; feel and show empathy for others; establish and maintain positive relationships; and make responsible decisions.
