Charity for Change Receives Grant from Arthrex

The grant supports new Project-Based Learning Activities to help Collier students develop resiliency and self-efficacy

Charity for Change has received a grant from Arthrex for building the resiliency and self-efficacy of at-risk students through its learning program. Specifically, the grant supports the creation of new project-based learning activities for elementary school-age students engaged in the curriculum.

Students will have new hands-on projects to create for the charities they support by completing curriculum activities like math and language arts. Examples of past student projects include puzzles using encouraging words for children in the hospital and pull-toys children made from old t-shirts for pets at the Humane Society.

The program uses various teaching tools to help students engage in their community through charity and learn about nine character traits including citizenship, perseverance, kindness, self-control, tolerance, responsibility, integrity, cooperation and respect.

“We are grateful to Arthrex for their generous support. The curriculum is complex, and it’s important to update the multiple facets designed to change the trajectory of young learners, contributing to their resiliency, academic success and mental wellness,” said Karen Conley, founder and CEO of Charity for Change.
